On the 15 of june, 2014, an annual Russian Racing Championship took place.

The competition was held in accordance to the "International Racing and Coursing rules", approved by the General Committee of FCI on 12 april, 2012.

26 whippets took part in the competition. They were divided into following classes:

senior class (7 to 8 years old): 1 male

standard class: 5 males  in taller than 51 cm height

standard class: 6 males in shorter than 51 cm height

standard class: 10 females in shorter than 48 cm height

junior class (9-15 month old): 3 males and 1 female, which contested together

All the dogs had pedigrees acceptable by the RKF and FCI, and also the license cards with the results of the previous runs of the current year.

All the dogs were running with muzzles and horse clothes with their numbers.

The dogs started the distance from the starting boxes.

Portable and collapsible boxes and other equipment were used, because for reasons of popularization the racing, this year the RKF decided to conduct the National Championship in one of the Moscow capital city's park, and not to bother the members of the competition with a long way to any permanent tracks (the best is situated in Ekaterinburg 1787 km far from Moscow)

The distance of the closed grip was 400 meters, the track had a grass cover.

The weather was forecasted to be dull, and about 18 C. So the conditions were to be absolutely comfortable for the racing.

And so the morning of the Championship day was!

And then the weather said it's word: it began raining, with thunder and lightnings. But after that the sun came back again and dried the track quickly.

The racing began at 12 pm msk.

Here came the first Mavise's official racing start. As the result of the ballot, he had got the 1 number and a red horsecloth. Ordnund muss sign: so we were to put a red muzzle and the red fixing bandages to Mavise's paws.

We made a light run and massged his muscles. Mavis comes to the boxes calm, doesn't pull the lead, doesn't break his breath. The ballot for the box comes. We've got number 2 - ok. The boy easy enters the box. Start! Mavis and the junior - female, Racing Champion of the Europe Lakshery Indigo's daughter -  come the leaders. But straightforward the girl uses straight - up motion, and smart Mavis applies tactics and leads his struggle for a superior position at the inner board of the track. As a result, Mavis passes the first curve by the minimal radius, almost lies on the netting, and breaks forward for about 7-8 meters. After the second turn his advantage increases again. On a straight length an obstinate female does her best to reduce the distance. But suddenly Mavis quickens and easily increases the distance again, as if he had felt something. He also passes the last curve with the minimal circle, and the eager girl, on the contrary, follows the higher radius and nearly falls out of the track. Mavis comes to the finish 10 meters ahead of his opponents. A secure win!

We quickly go for a walk with him to restore his breath. His breath recuperates in 2 minutes, pul - in 4. A wonderful work of the heart! We walk for 15 minutes, just in case.

In that very time, Mavise's tutor, Briz, surely wins at the qualifying round of the Championship.

And here comes the severe storm with shower, lightnings and thunder. The rain drenched the fans, organisators, judges and the dog's owners to the skin. The dogs - opposite to the people - stayed dry: they were covered with tents and the owner's garments.

The temperature fell down to 10 C.

The competition recommenced only after 2 hours.

All that time Mavis and Briz slipped calm in their dog's tent (Trixie) on an alpinist mat, dressed in warm horse clothes.

So, the final. Mavis again in a red horse cloth. And the 1 box. Good!

Mavis used the accelerating on the straight length tactics in his final run, and also passed all the curves in minimal radiuses. He left no chances to his opponents!

After his junior comrade, Bris safely won at the semi-final and final rounds and got the title Racing Champion of Russia.

Galina Poliakova, authoritative sport and show expert, licensed by FCI, an Executive Secretary of the russian  “National Club of  Breed “Whippet”, mentioned: "Mavise's high speed comes formed from his excellent parentage, and also the ideal keeping conditions, feeding and airing. It's clear. But where has Mavis, just 1 year and 2 weeks old and who's been in the racing only 3 times for his life, got such wisdom and excellent racing tactics? What's that? The genetic memory or a natural mind of a high-class borzoi?"

Here  you are running commentary for this extract  http://youtu.be/07tv-7MGInQ  of the film:

The first Mavise's participation in national racing Championship invited the attention of russian breeders and the running dogs owners.

Timophey Sinelnikov, the female's Boosi Vafa Elfa owner: "Congratulation to Porozhnyakov Vladimir with the clear victory of both his guys! As for Mavis - I've got no words! It's erally a flight, not a run! I had no doubt that Mavis wins. After seeng his trainings, it was clear to me that he could participate even with adult males. He could fight the victory with them. Why do I think so? I've just got the feeling that he doesn't do his best in racing which juniors, like he plays. And that every moment he can 'switch on' and increase his speed abruptly.

Mavis is really a cool dog!

He's like the miracle of the many years selection of racing dogs!

And he also has an attractive exterior.

Regardless of the fact that the juniors that ran with Mavice are far not the weakest in Russia.

Even more important that The Best Racing-Junior title, won by Mavis in a competition with very strong juniors is his 3-d result in breed, quiet after the strongest males in Russia: the russia's racing champion Aristeas Dneprovskaya Piranya, the  Europe coursing champion, Russian racing champion Lakshery Indigo and your Briz Legkiy Veter - russian racing and coursing champion.

And Mavise's age is just a year and half a month! Shure he's gone to go far!

I wish farther success to your dog's red company!

P.S. Takin'g into account that your Briz rushes like a hurricane, couldn't you like to change his name Breeze Light Wind into Hurricane, and also to call you red company "the red machine", that's invincible?"

 FlammeRISH, the racing whippets owner:

"Da Red Goes Fasta!" (Red means fast!)"

Larisa Chikova, the well-known and authoritative kinolog and one of the oldest russian whippets nursery "Volar Black Shark" owner:

"Totally agree: it really looks like a flight! Mavis has an excellent running technique! The boy runs effortlessly, and it's good for the moment: it's not time for him to go all out yet. He's got world before him (keep your fingers crossed!). Hope God will give him luck. He's got a good reserve, the only aim is to realize it. I've seen his pedigree in the Archive - it's seldom to see. It was one of the reasons i've came to this Championchip - just wanted to see this miracle in real life, and I wasn't upset. So I wish my best to Mavis, and his owners of course!"
